Sadly, there is no way to reduce the screen darkening after 5 minutes of inactivity when playing it not docked. Sleep mode settings do nothing about it, too. I think they should at least add in an option to change the timer up to 30 minutes, though, if they do not want to outright allow users to totally disable it.
Launch System Settings from the Home screen on your Nintendo Switch. Scroll down and select Parental Controls. Parental Controls Change Settings (Image credit: iMore) Select Change Settings on the right side of the screen. Enter your PIN. Hit Delete Settings on the screen or the X button on your controller.
As soon as it showed the Nintendo logo the screen turned off and the console clearly wasn't on. Today I still cannot get the switch to boot past the logo. I have had it plugged in and nothing notable happens even though there should be a battery symbol that should show up. I decided to look inside the switch to see if somehow there was corrosion. Reset the AC Adapter. You can reset the OEM Nintendo AC adapter to fix problems that occur with it. Unplug the AC adapter from the wall. Wait one minute with the adapter unplugged. Plug the AC adapter back in. Connect the Switch to the charging cable. Wait 30 minutes and check to see whether the charging indicator is displayed.
